| A week or two ago, when Party Poker was offering a bonus of up to $100, I decided to give it a try having noticed through Card Player's monthly online poker newsletter that this site is second to Paradise Poker with respect to action i.e. number of games going at any given time. By no means I am new to online poker, I've been playing on Paradise Poker, Poker Stars and up until January Ultimate Bet for quite some time now. Anyhow, having only deposited $500, the max without having to fill out that special form, I stuck to mostly 1/2 and2/4 limit hold'em and played in several tourneys ranging from $10 to $30. What struck me first was the "looseness" of these games, which is what I gather to be the driving force behind the site's popularity. My first night, at a 1/2 table, the action was sick, with an average pot of $35 at one point (unheard of at PP and PS to the best of my knowledge) along with some very fishy play. One example I can give is some player next to the button calling 3 bets pre-flop with 2-3s, I think it was 6 or 7 handed, flop comes A-K-10, turn a 4, river a 5, the 2-3 beat a set of aces (showed hand), K-10 (showed hand) and someone else (didn't show), taking down a $92 pot, insane for 1/2. But besides these loose games, I just wasn't particularly thrilled with the site for a number of reasons. First, the day after I began playing there, I went to log in the next day and could not, so I checked my e-mail figuring something may be wrong and found out that I had to call their processor to verify that I had deposited the original $500. Very odd if you ask me, I was not aware of this, would not have had a problem with it had I knew beforehand that it was required of all depositors, yet thought to myself "why would they even let me play in the first place and THEN decide to freeze my account?" Second, I had the same problem with hand histories as several of you have noted, not receiving them promptly, receiving the wrong ones and even receiving ones containing 100 hands (download required) when I only requested one. For a site that makes an enorous amount of money and is a rather competitive enterprise I would expect better. Finally, I was just a little baffled with all of that fishy play. Honestly, it's not often I encounter such on Paradise Poker or Poker Stars, and the biggest pot I have seen on either site for a 1/2 limit hold'em game was in the $60 range, yet on my first night of play on Party Poker I'm in a game where I see a monster $92 pot, another for $70 or so and several $60 and $50 ones. I expect some of you to respond and say that these are precisely the types of games that you seek, which is why you play there. Yet I'm very curious to hear, just in general, why many players take a liking to this site in spite of mediocre customer service, decent graphics at best and problems with hand histories. 4 POKER, I know you play there often from your posts and I always enjoy reading them, so I'm curious to hear your thoughts. Thanks in advance and good luck in your games this week. - Giocatore "In the poker game of life, women are the rake." :-) (Thought I'd throw that in with all these movie quotes flooding the forum as of late) | ||

| I enjoy Party Poker because they offer more Omaha games for me to chose from and at the limits in which I prefer to play at as well. I find the games to be fairly soft and have no problems beating them at all. I have never experienced a problem with their customer service. They do offer good bonuses and frequently I may add. The graphics are just as clear as the ones on Paradise Poker.(and they're not as cheezy as some of the other sites out there...will not mention those sites). Now you may feel differently and that is okay. That is why there are many poker sites out there- so we can have choices as to where we feel we are the most comfortable. I have been playing on this site for over a year now and I have never had a losing week. So like they say,"If it's not broken, Don't fix it". 4 POKER | ||

| I used to only play at Paradise before a few months ago. However, after visiting this forum, I found a lot of people who said that Party was much looser and easier to beat, so I thought I would give it a try. So far, I have found this to be the case. The 3-6 game where I mostly play is unreal (two nights ago I won 25 BB's in 45 minutes of standard, no frills play without hitting ANY monster hands) and the same bad players seem to be there every night. I also love their multi-table tourny's, something Paradise doesn't have. I have had a small problem with hand histories, but for me that is a small price to pay for the softness of the game relative to Paradise. | ||

| What is your hand history problem? I've having one where I essentially can't get any (they keep sending my *first* 100 hands). | ||

| Check out http://www.cigital.com/news/index.php?pg=art&artid=20 I'm guessing that PP has resolved the issue, if not though, it could explain what your calling "fishy" play. | ||
