| recent graduate in a bad economy. Was making $17/hr as a paid intern programming C++. Well my love for programming has waned and somehow I've drifted to playing lots of online poker. Made about 6k the last month since school let out and my internship didn't pan as the company is doing real bad. 3k each the previous 2 months. Of course most of money was made in the first couple of weeks that I've joined with the new bonuses and players not having any info on how I play. The money in the live games have been harder to earn so I've won a lot of money this past month playing in tourneys and Sit n go's. The live games will only be harder as time passes in my opinion so I expect a definite decrease in profits unless I can continue doing real well in tourneys. | ||

| I know many players who make a living playing strictly online...As a matter of fact many live players have switched to online for convenience sake and because they believe the games are much easier to beat! Roy Cooke | ||

| I have two pieces of advice for you: 1) if you can keep a day job as a codemonkey, keep it. What happens in 5 years when poker dries up or you get sick of it? Your resume will look like you've spent 5 years in the state pen. The software economy is slowly recovering and while Java programmers are having a time of it if you're good with C++ there are jobs out there for you. 2) Make sure that you have an adequate bankroll or don't even think about it. | ||
