My friend has had horrible experience using a credit card over the net, and I dont know if paypal is still in extent but I'd rather not use it either. Is there any site that will take other forms of payments. I.E. personal check or perferably a money order, so if they do screw me at least I'm only out the amount of the money order or check.

You won't be able to use PayPal for quasi-cash purposes. They are now owned by eBay, and as such are prevented by legal agreement not to do business with on-line gambling sites. Try NetTeller instead, they are accepted by some poker sites.
