Think before you bet, Piers Majestyk, 7. Jun 2003 19:44

I was taking a break from getting abused in my holdem games so I decided to try my hand at some low limit stud. Now I am by no means as competent in stud as I am in holdem but against these guys I was not in any trouble as the terrible plays and hands they were involved in were shocking. One example I thought I would pass along that happens in stud moreso than holdem is when you have an obvious strong hand staring your opponent in the face on the river and you don't improve (such as you will see below) it is a tragedy for you to bet as only one of two things can happen, 1) your opponent will fold and you gain nothing extra or 2) your opponent will call or raise you and you are certain to lose.
