| I've checked out the dictionary on Caro's site, but don't really understand what it means....what is a kill game? How does it work? How does on defend his kill? I thought it was just the limits going up the next hand? | ||

| Yes, the limits go up the next hand (usually double) but the killer must put up a live kill-sized blind. Here's an example: at my casino, you're playing 3-6 holdem. You win your second pot in a row, and it's over $30 (10 times the small bet), so the next hand is a kill hand. The regular blinds post their $1 & $3 respectively, and YOU post a $6 kill blind. Everyone at the table must call $6 to see the flop (you blind is live). If no one raises, you see the flop for 'free.' Protecting your kill is like the BB protecting his blind; calling a raise with a marginal hand, because you think the raise was a bluff to steal the blind. Incidentally, I will often (about 60%) raise my own kill blind, especially if there are only a couple of limpers (like usual at our tables) and take the pot right there. -Moz "Leave the gun. | Mozman brings up a good point. I have noticed that when a killer plays aggressively either raising preflop or betting after the flop people will let him take it, fuguring he is on a rush. People often get intimidated by the higher limits so they are less likely to pursue a marginal holding. Quite a few killers take advantage of this and raise preflop which is why I am a little more carefull with what I limp in with in a kill pot. If you are the first person in the pot and have a good hand a raise is the best strategy especially in a kill pot because there is more dead money in the pot and you can take the initiative away from the killer who doesn't rate to have a very good hand necissarily. | ||

| You should also be sure to make it three bets when the player with the kill raises, with anything you would have ordinarily raised with yourself. | ||

| A very good point. I notice that many players tighten up considerably when the kill is in effect... some refuse to even play in kill hands. In terms of my own hand, I find it's best to treat them just like any other hand; only the number of chips changes. But I am aware of these fears at the table and may even be a little more aggressive (as long as I have something to work with) to bully the scared ones a little. -Moz "Leave the gun. | In Hold'em, a kill occurs when a player wins consecutive pots (The Killer) that reach a minimum value. Now the limit doubles until the Killer folds or loses. If the killer keeps winning, look out! There are other variations of the Kill. For example, there is a half kill. In a 10-20 game the kill would bump up the game to a 15-30 game, until the killer loses. | ||
