| So we've been sharing bad beat stories and good beat stories, so I thought hows about we have some more fun and share some big blind miracle stories. This is when you are playing a trash had that would never play normally because you get to see the flop for free, and end up with a monster. (might even be a marginal hand that you would not normally play in EP). Happened to me only once, playing in a tight game that requires premium hands in EP, I've got A4o. UTG, I wouldn't even play it against these guys. There's 6 limpers ahead of me, so I know there are big cards, and maybe even some middle pocket-pairs. I check to see the flop for free, and the flop is AAA. Now, this is only my second or third session ever, so I'm trying not to reel, I really have no idea what to do, and I'm still a very passive player at this point... so I check, two more after me check and the third guys bets. The rest fold, I call. Shoulda raised, but I really didn't know what to do. There's also this bad beat jackpot at my casino, so if the bettor has pocket Ts or higher, we could be in for that (about $35k that night, 50% to him, 25% to me, and 25% split to the rest of the table). Anyway, we are head's-up at the turn, which comes a 7. Now, I know the jackpot's gone (my 4 doesn't play any more), and I'm coming to my senses a little, so I bet, he calls. River comes a 5, I bet he happily calls (thinking he's won the jackpot). I have quads and he had pocket Ts for Aces full. He was really disappointed (as was the rest of the table) to see the 4 in my hand. Anyhoo, I dragged a pretty good pot on that. -Moz "Leave the gun. Take the cannoli." | ||

| The mother of all BB miracles .. Not my hand, but I was at the table. BB was holding 7-2 off and flopped 7-7-2. The hand went all the way to showdown, but there wasn't anything remarkable about the betting rounds. Anyhow, we all had a good laugh when BB turned over his cards! | ||

| OK, here's one I had last night: I'm playing 3-6 at a pretty fishy table that also includes several regulars. (In one instance, the two are the same). I'm on the BB (obvoiusly) and get dealt 54o. There are six callers (besides me) and no raisers, so I'm in. The SB folded, so I wll be UTG on the flop. The flop comes J52 rainbow. With seven of in, I decide to bet out on my 2nd pair to test the table and semi-bluff, representing the J. I'm ready to fold on the turn, especially if an A, K or Q comes. Action then goes like this: fold, raise, fold, fold, fold, fold, back to me. As soon as the raise hits the table, I decide I'm going to fold, but as the other four are folding, I'm hearing the voice in my head tell me to call. I put the raiser on AJ, and figure he's thinking I have a J with a lower kicker. I'm not sure I want to make the call, but I talk myself into it because my 'little voice' is so often right and because I don't want the table to think I will easily fold on any show of strength. So I call, planning to check-fold the turn. Then the turn comes a 5. Now I have trips UTG, so I bet out again, and stare down the other player. He appears somwhat befuddled, obviously wondering what I could have that his raise didn't scare me off. He'd had his chips ready to go, assuming I would check and he could bet me out. He thought about raising again, but just called now that he was a little off-balance. Then the river comes my case 5. I'm trying not to piss myself, and actually hesitate a second before betting because I'm not sure I believe what I'm seeing, but I bet out anyway. The other guy is shaking his head, makes the call and shows me his AJ to my quad 5s. -Moz "Leave the gun. Take the cannoli." | ||

| I think you should treat your "little voice" as if it was your American Express card... "Don't ever leave home without it"! 4 POKER | ||

It doesn't often tell me when to stay in, it's usually warning me to fold... and is almost always right. It's a lot harder to listen to when it wants me to fold against logic. -Moz "Leave the gun.
