| Two decks in each hand, or two decks as in one used to deal, the other used to shuffle and get ready for the next hand? If you mean two at once, you're not playing real poker...I'm guessing you're playing something like a Midnight Baseball where everyone gets their cards so you'd need two decks. If you're playing regular poker (Stud, Hold'em, whatever), there's no reason to use two decks at once. If you play Stud and there happens to be a hand that enough are in so that you run out of cards, I believe the rule is that the final card is a community card. I've only seen that happen once in eight years of playing, so that shouldn't be an issue. I would highly suggest against using two decks at once if you're playing anything real. Rotating decks in a casino isn't done, but in a home game it really shouldn't be an issue. I'm in a weekly $2/$4 Texas Hold'em game that usually sits 9 or 10 people, and never finds less than 8 in the game. We've done it both ways, and rotating decks just makes the game play faster, which is always good. - C - | ||

They rotate decks at my casino, but they do it because they have shuffling machines in the tables. While one deck is in play, the other is in the machine getting shuffled. They've got us up to about 29 to 30 hands per half-hour (hold em) since they put those in. -Moz "There is no spoon." | ||

| I'm pretty sure you are referring to using two decks to deal with one, and then shuffle with the other one while the one hand is being played out. If that is the case than I think it is ok to do that because that will just speed up the game. Last year I had played in a very low limit home game with the dealers and the floorpeople from one of the local casinos. There was no rake or any fees whatsoever. What they did do that made the game even more enjoyable was, the host and his wife(both professional dealers), they took turns being the dealer; they did not participate in the game and the hands were dealt out just as fast as they would have if you were playing in a regular cardroom. I'm sure that everyone wants to participate in this game that you'll be playing in but maybe you can find someone who is just wiling to be the dealer. If you think about it, the dealer can only win and I know that when I played in the home game, everyone was extremely generous to the dealer. maybe you can plan to have a weekly rotating dealer-one week you can be the dealer, the next week somebody else can be the dealer and so on. I just think that when the game is ran smoothly and quickly the players are more inclined to keep playing and will be looking foward to returning the following week. Whatever you do decide, have lots of fun and plenty of good food! 4 POKER | ||
