I am a novice poker player, considering buiying either Caro's book of tells or the video, and I am not sure which would be a better investment. Is the video really that much better than the book ($60 instead of $25)? Please respond if you have experience with both. Thanks.

I forget where I read it, but I believe it was Lou Kreiger who sad that Caro's Book of Tells the book was like a picture, worth a thousand words, but that the video tapes were worth a million. I'm also considering investing in his Tells collection, and I think that the consensus is you should probably buy both, the video giving you the most clear guidance, and the book being great for referring back to. I only play games like 2/4, 3/6, and 4/8 Hold Em, but if I ever do decide to jump up to say 10/20 I'm going to get as much information as I can and practice at the lower levels with it.

get both

there used to be a deal for both in the MCU bookstore (linked from planet poker) for about $70 to $90. I got them and they are great.

yeah, i picked up that deal too. i added it up, it was 140$ worth of material... mikes power poker seminar, another seminar, and the tells... plus the book of tells.... for only 80. it is all great material. put it right to use. i think the movie and the book should be used in conjunction with each other... thats me personally.

Don't mean to freeze the flow of support for Mr. Caro's bankroll, but I didn't think the video was all that impressive.

The book is excellent, do buy it, but watching blatant poor acting from the 70's is much different than sitting at a low limit table with his readings in your head and testing the tells in real-time.
