| I am curious what type of leaks you guys may have had in your game at some point in your poker career that you have fixed. For example; I used to slowplay everytime I flopped trips only to be shown a straight by somebody who would have folded their gutshot had I bet. I also never adjusted my starting hand requirements according to the game I was in. I am sure there are a whole lot more and I will chime in when I think of them. In the meantime I think it would be imformative to here what you guys have to say. just curious..thanks | ||

| A big leak I use to have was playing seemingly strong hands in weak position. I use to always play hands like K-10, 10-J, K-Q, A-J, etc. in early position. Now I know that these hands are losers in the long run. | ||

| This was (and occassionally still is) my biggest leak. Seems like if I haven't gotten cards for 1/2 hour, I get tempted woth AJ or KQ. I know it is stupid, but I am still working on becoming a robo-folder with those in EP. Also, I seem to be enamored with suited Aces... | ||

| I have the suited A's thing going too, I have to make sure and ask myself "Do I really have enough callers to make this worth it?" Just by asking myself the question, I am less likely to play it when it's not appropriate. | ||

| Oh, yeah... defintily. I have my starting hand requirements printed out, and all of these hands are highlighted in EP to remind me to beware. They are so tempting that I need the reminder before every session; so I pull that paper out every time I play and remind myself what I should and should not play. Another problem for me has been the hands I wouldn't play. Was a time I refused to play suited connectors that were less than JT, even on the button... and I was giving up a lot of opportunity for profit. I have those highlight where I should play them too... -Moz "There is no spoon." | ||

| Laying down a hand like two pairs when you know you are beat. The way to fix this is to be honest with yourself as to the chance someone is bluffing, rather than just look at the pot odds to justify a crying call. | ||

| Trying to win money from good players. I do not mean that you should never stay at a table which has some other players who you think may be just as good as you. But, you must understand that you can not expect to profit from these players. If another player is as good, or even only a little bit worse, than you are, then you have no edge. Your expectation is 0 minus the rake. You expect to loose money to the house every time that you go up against such players. These days I try to get on the left of other good players. If they are in a pot, especially if they are showing strength, then I become much more inclined to muck anything that is even a little bit marginal. The key to winning at poker is to play against people who you can beat. Snorbolus on 1. | I think the biggest leak am I still struggling to fix in my game is too make sure and revalue my holding based on the players, game, cards on board, etc. I used to have guidlelines that I was very strict on, and early on, these are invaluable to maintaining discipline when you're first learning. However, I was still sticking to my rigid guidelines even when a different play would give me a more positive expected value. The major concrete thing I have been working on lately is value betting the river. Too often, I would be scared to bet the river with my top pair, top kicker with no reasonable draw made just cause I had been burned by people pairing their garbage kicker on the river. But that river bet will often produce a crying call, and not betting when the river card is scary often just leaves too much money on the table when it could be in your stack | ||

| The slowplay leak is an important one to stop up. Slowplay garbage boards with your sets, but when there is a straight or flush draw there, make people pay to see the turn. There are lots of little things like this that just come with experience. One man's insight is a more advanced player's leak. It is a continuous process. | ||
