I have never played at planet poker. I have however played at several other sites. My question to everyone who claims these sites are rigged is: Why?

Why would planet poker, paradise, party, ultimate bet, or any other site want to do this.

If I could rake pots, collect entry fees, and have very little overhead, I would do my best to keep my customers coming back.

When I lose it's because I either played poorly, or someone played better.

When I win, I would like to think it is vbecause I played well, not because some computer let me win.

that's my 2 cents
keep the change

Hi, Doug --

While I'm sometimes suspicious of posts like yours, especially because of a mean-spirited campaign by anonymous posters who we found out had a different agenda, I'll assume yours is a legitimate first post (and first log on) to UPF.

Under that assumption, I'd like to thank you for giving Planet Poker a try, and I'm sorry it didn't work out for you. I think you're doing the right thing by leaving, at least for now, because even when everything is happening normally, the mere suspicion that it isn't can eat into the time you need to make quality decisions, and that might cause you to play worse.

That's why I always recommend that students who are in any poker games (real-world or online) remove themselves whenever they're uncomfortable. That's the safest thing to do.

Having said that, you might be interested to know that I have personally looked at the distribution of hands at Planet Poker and am well satisfied that nothing irregular is happening. Researchers have studied other sites, as well, and have made their findings public. There does not seem to be irregular distribution of cards at ANY major poker site -- but this doesn't mean it can't happen, hasn't happened, or isn't happening. I personally don't think it is. But if that's a concern to you, you're better off not playing.

Hope your future poker adventures are productive.

Straight Flushes,
Mike Caro

Wow. That was a display of patience that only a great poker player could have pulled off!

But we do have to remember that for every anonymous poster who creates a login just to post a fake scam post, there is probably another person who is just perusing the boards for the first time. These first time viewers probably don't know that there have been 1000 one time logins to post bogus scam information, and might be confused at the the reaction by the majority of the other posters here.

So at least for those viewers, I think it's great to have a polite, well thought out response to read.

Thanks Mike.

Two months is a statistical drop in the bucket. Sometimes you get losing streaks even when you are playing well, and you just get more than your fair share of bad beats for some reason.

Well, I've been playing there at Poker Planet for about six months off and on. I think Caro runs a good show, and he's got a good rep to protect. I can't see the fixing happening reasonably and I see no actual indications either. I've lost over periods and I've gained over periods. Cards are random, and you have to play them correctly. But without cards, you still lose some.

Could it just be the old "That site has got to be cheating, 'cause I don't play that bad" syndrome.

Just my 2 cents... and keep the change. :)

If the players have approx. the same skill level, play by the book, don't make stupid mistakes or go on tilt, then it is to be expected that no player will win or lose much. You can only win money if there are several or more poor players in the game.
