WSOP Celebrity Event, TKarrde, 27. May 2003 13:25

I saw on the Binion's site that the last event before the $10k HE main event is a Celebrity tournament. No where can I find mention of who was in this and who won. I was curious as to who the celebrities were?

Has anyone seen anything related to this or have and links to any websites?

Thanks,

TK

I found a "complete" results listing here:

http://www.thegoodgamblingguide.co.uk/spotlight/wsop2003/wsop2003results.htm

but I don't see any mention of a celebrity tourney. It might be one of the ones listed, and just doesn't say delebrity in the name...

Hey TKarrde,

I happened to have been there that day because that was the same day that they held the Ace-Five triple draw lowball event that a buddy of mine was playing in.

They called it "The Media Event" and I too was looking for famous people but the only people that I recognized were people that had some sort of involvement with cardplayer magazine, news columnists,
last years WSOP winner(Robert Varkony) and others who may have or still do contribute somehow in the poker industry.
Maybe there were some celebs there and I just missed them somehow, but usually I can spot them out pretty quick. I didn't even see Gabe Kaplan there and he's always at the WSOP.(and please don't say,"who's that", cause that'll just reveal my age now, LOL).
Now I'm not saying that these people aren't important just 'cause I wasn't real familiar with most of them, I just don't think they were the "type" of people/players that you were referring to, that's all.

4POKER -

Great to hear from you! Hope Vegas or Cali is treating you well. I've fallen victim to your favorite game. Omaha8. Started out well but have taken a beating. Sometime you need to email me some good tips.

I guess the celebrity event wasn't exactly what I was expecting. I was watching the Tunica WPT event. And that announcer guy kept looking familiar. They showed his name a couple times before it clicked. Gabe Kaplan... oh... yeah... WELCOME BACK KOTTER! I really liked him as an announcer. I'll take him over Jerry Van Dyke 15 ways to breakfast? (Is that how the saying goes?)

Thanks for the update!

Hey TK,
I e-mailed you on wednesday but I'm not sure if you received my letter or not. I have this set-up in my hotel room that offers T.V. internet access but when I send out e-mails there is nothing that comes up on my screen that tells me that my mail was sent out and I am also not able to check on "sent mail" either.(I guess I'm used to my computer at home and this one works a little differently).

Anyway, just do me a favor and let me know if you received my e-mail as of yet, ok?

Thanks,
4-

No. Did not recieve anything. But thanks for trying. You have my work email, correct? @kimball.com? I never check email at home which is the wife's. @msn.com Did you get my email? Can you check your AOL account? Just wanted to say thanks for the post card!!

You'd be proud... I've become a pro at Omaha 8/b at the low limits! (Okay, maybe pro is a bit strong.) Too bad Ultimate Bet never has any tournaments for it. Just too lazy to open an account at another site.

Hope your trip continues to be fortunous (is that a word?) and enjoyable!! Have some guys thinking of going out to AC for a bachelor party, when will you be back in town? Maybe I can meet up with you at your stomping ground. Bring Ivey along too. I'll show him a couple moves. HAHAHHA

Take care!

hey,
Yes I did get your e-mail and that is why I asked you.
I will try it one more time(you see the screen that comes up on my T.V. just shows who the e-mail is from but does not provide the actual address-yours came up with your first and last name but nothing else).

Oh well, In case it doesn't work...I will be mailing something to you as soon as I get one more item. I'm still waiting on Phil- I didn't even get a chance to speak to him at the WSOP. I only saw him twice and both times he was on a break during the tournaments that he was involved in(I didn't want to ask him then, but I will see him again for certain, maybe here in Cali)
Anyway, I did meet some other big tournament players and was able to get them to sign a cocktail napkin from the Horseshoe!

(screw the e-mail, this is easier for me right now, LOL)!

Take care.

I'm tellin' ya... jump into one of those $100-$200 games... once you are up $1000 then cash out and head down to Best Buy for a brand new laptop! You could do so much with it while on the road!

So when are you back in AC?

Yes, that would be the wise thing to do considering that I already invested enough money at the internet cafe's!

I will be home(AC) in the middle of september.
