| Has anyone read Phil's book, title is something like Playing poker like the pro's? Is it worth buying? What about Sklansky on Poker? thanks mark | ||

| Hi Mark, Phil's book is a definite read. Be forewarned however that only part of the book is on hold 'em. A large part is dedicated to 7-stud and omaha. The man is obviously a monster in the poker world, so for $15, it's worth the price of admission. Anything by Sklansky is worth buying and reading. Most of his stuff is not an easy read though... you'll find yourself re-reading his books many times. | ||

| Does Phil "put" everything in "quotes" though, like he does in his "Card Player" articles? I don't think I'd be able to deal (no pun intended) with three hundred pages of that. | ||

| the beginners section was good but i thought the advanced section was worthless esp. the play of small pairs. S&M's hold'em for advanced players is light years ahead. for $11.99 or whatever it is worth buying but i was disappointed in it. i wish he would play in my 15-30 game that way. | ||

| I just bought the book and have read the first half. I agree that his play of small pairs is very unsual. However, he makes some good points about being very aggressive in heads-up situations. mark | ||
