| Hi, everyone -- Thanks for all your suggestions about an online poker get-together in the form of a tournament. As I passed along in another UPF thread yesterday, Planet Poker has agreed to host this. Here are some initial details that already have been set (more will follow)... Planet Poker Management suggests the event be a $20 by-in Hold'em event already scheduled at Planet for Wednesday, June 18th at 10:00 pm ET. You can buy in with $20 (or 1000 Planet Points, if you're already a player at their site) Planet Poker will award 10 additional prizes (golf shirts, hats etc.) to the top 10 UPF finishers. Check back here to see how to register to qualify for the additional UPF prizes. Yesterday's prize pool was over $2,000 and had 115 registered players. With UPF participants we should be able to substantially increase upon that figure. (Note that for this first event, UPF participants will have a separate prize pool, and there WILL be a UPF champion, even if the top finisher from this forum doesn't win against the broader field.) In addition to the money prize pool, I will be donating a hard cover, leather-bound, numbered, limited edition (only 500 printed) copy of the Caro's Book of Tells -- The Body Language of Poker to the UPF winner. | Thanks for the legwork on this one. It should be fun to see how we do as a group against the regular planet players and also how we do against eachother. Having the added prize stuff in there really sweetens the deal to boot. I think Mr. Caro has gotten us a really good deal here and we should all take advantage of it, see how it goes, and then see if we want to do another UPF tourney, a regular thing, and see if there is anything we want to do regularly the next time. Now, since this is a sweet deal for us here at UPF, might I suggest some kind of a cut-off time whereby anybody who hasn't posted to UPF before that time would be excluded? Not to exclude anybody, but to prevent people playing in the tourney on planet already from jumping on the bandwagon at the last minute. Oh, and Mike and Roy - can we expect the two of you to be playing in this brawl too? | ||

| Stdioh good effort mate, thanks for making the effort to help pull it all together. Same to Mike and anyone else who has got involved in it all i am sure i am not the only one who wishes to thank you for helping us get this off the ground . I think it will be a great chance for us to meet at the tables and i for one am going to open an account with my UPF name. I hope that a lot of the better players / posters ( 4POKER, Andrew Wells, etc ...) will take part and make themselves known at the tables, i am sure they will !! Bring it on ! Allthough the 10pm Yank time start is a bit of a shocker that means what a 3am start over here in the UK ...ouch. Also I am 'Mr Trash talk' but if people want to give it the large one i suggest that we do this in the ' not quite poker ' bit sounds fair ? 7 High's Chasepoker | ||

| I'll play, but I won't let you know what my screen name is up front. It shouldn't be too hard to figure it out if you want to go to the effort. I've posted my real name and the locale where I play on this forum already. It may also become apparent from the inevitable post tournament analysis on these pages. I'd prefer just not to give it away immediately. | ||

| I can't wait to post how internet poker is crooked after the tournament. If stdioh wins the UPF side of things, we'll know it was coersed because he did most of the footwork to get things started, and this is his reward. IT'S RIGGED!!!!! | ||

| Congratulations to studioh and all who responded and thnks to Mike Caro for picking up the ball. This is another cross promtion that will benefit everyone. The idea of a cut-off date is good to screen out puddle jumpers who have never made a contribution to UPF. This will speed up the growth of UPF as well and benefit us all. Hail to the pioneers | ||
