We are headed to Vegas in June and normally stay at the Rio. Do the hotels with Poker rooms do any comps for playing just poker?

Thanks,
Don

The Mirage has a poker player package, but I think you have to play 8 hours a day.
Don't know your needs specifically.

What kind of deal does the Mirage give you if you play the 8 hours? Anybody know if Bellagio has any kind of a poker deal? When Wren and I head out there next year, I'm sure that we'll be putting in at least 20 hours a day between the two of us.

I think you probably get breakfast and maybe a cut room rate at best.
Call 800 77-POKER to find out.

I'd doubt that hotels give room comps for poker action only.

Here's my thinking: to get a room comp at the bellagio for table games, you need a $100 per hand average for four hours of play per day(depending on the day of the week, special events, etc). At a game like BJ, Baccarat, or craps, with little more than a 1% house advantage, that means the casino expects to take over $1,000 from you per day. For other games, the house will make a lot more. It's difficult to imagine how the casino could expect to make that kind of revenue from a poker player. In reality, they'd make a lot less.

My guess: unless you play other games--or you're a celebrity or a really, really big fish--don't expect free room comps from big Vegas resorts.

Am I wrong? Has anyone here ever received a comped room from a nice Vegas hotel for poker action only?

Bellagio offers a cut room rate but no other comps. to my knowledge. I believe the deal is 6 hours per day of playing time will get you roughly a 1/3 discount on the room rate ($240 to $160 during the week), at least that is what it was for me last year.

That's a pretty good deal...but I would imagine that you can't get the rate cut even further by putting in more time can you? Ideally, I'd like to have a room for next to nothing and play all day every day, but I would imagine this is easier said than done.

I don't think you can cut it more, but it wouldn't hurt to ask. Call and ask for the poker room manager and explin your situation...there may be something I don't know about.

Actually, blackjack takes in about 11% of the money wagered. If every player at the table was playing perfect basic strategy, they would be making about $0.50 on every $100 bet (but it depends on the particular rule set of the house) ... blackjack is a cash cow because people, "have figured out how to play" and don't split their 8's, or hit their 12's on a dealer 2, etc.

Stdioh and Wren,

The Mirage offers a flat rate of $85 sunday thru thursday and $119 on fridays and saturdays for all poker players. (6 hours required during the week and 8 hours of play required on the weekend). The rooms are really nice and are worth it especially if you're going to be putting in a lot of poker hours between the two of you- and it's convenient as well.

The Bellagio's rate is $129 sunday thru thursday and $199 on fridays and saturdays with the same applying as the Mirage,(6 hour of play).
However, if you guys are staying at the Bellagio for the first time, they will put you in at whatever the rate is at that particular time(because the rates do vary), and then when they track your "play", they will be able to offer you the poker rate. It's pretty simple really and as long as both of you are playing, it will be a total of 6 hours combined so that's pretty cool, too.

Just one thing I'd like to mention. The Bellagio and the Mirage are within walking distance from one another and there are also some reputable hotels that are fairly close to these two casino's...Just something to think about before spending the big bucks!

Good luck to you.

The Mirage offers a discount with 5 hours of play per day per room. Last time I stayed there the poker rate was $85 during the week and $120 on Friday and Saturday.

Wouldn't it make a difference what limits you are playing at?

If I ever made it to Vegas I doubt I'd be sitting anywhere but the $1-$2 tables! ;) I doubt those customers get much in comps.

Good point, but I wouldn't be a high roller there. I think that the 10-20 is about as much as I would be willing to touch...maybe a 10-20 with a kill or a 15-30 if it is fishy enough there for it to be a crime not to play it.

Hello

The Mirage and the Bellagio offer special room rates for poker players...The Mirage has looser food comps and is a better for the low-medium limit player, but if you want to play high...go to the Bellagio. All that said, you can find cheaper rooms at other places and travel to the Mirage or Bellagio.
