| How many hands do you require to have in pokertracker b4 the stats start to "mean" anything? 1000+ 10000+ 100000+ I only just got it so only 120 hands in there, interesting stuff to a fashion but I cant as yet read to much into it. When should I start taking its results seriously? | ||

| 10000 at least, but most likely never unless you're not working on improving your game. -X Writer www.pokerev.com | ||

| Please elucidate. The inference from your answer is that poker tracker is meaningless if I am trying to improve my game. (Which I am obviously) | ||

| He is referring to your sampling. Specifically, if your game is constantly improving, you will never end up with a large enough sampling of your CURRENT skill level to really read from confidently. | ||

| OK, that's true, but let's be realistic and practical so you can get a good idea. I think you will need roughly 18,000 hands (300 online hours @ 60/hr.) to ensure that the results reflect a decent sampling of play. This by no means enters the realm of "over the long run", but it would be hard to argue that the results wouldn't be close enough to your normal distribution that you couldn't garner some significant trends/strengths/weaknesses in your game. It should also mitigate soome of the potential short term luck factor, but by no means all. 100,000 hands would be better, but at some point you get into diminishing returns. 18,000 should give you confidence around 80-85% that the distribution is fair. | ||
