| i was playing in a 50$ buyin NL game on sunday... very loose, swinging from passive to agressive. at this point, it was four handed, i was short stacked at around 30$ and the other 3 playes had close to 100-120 each. i get pocket rockets under the gun, limp in, dealer stays, small blind doubles the blind (we start with the blinds at 50c 1$.... and just dont increase them.. its not a tourney, just a reg game... but we should still bring the blinds up... anyway) BB calls, i bring it up 4 more, and dealer and SB call. flop comes Q73 rainbow, im loving it. SB checks, i bet 3, dealer calls, sb raises 5, and i call, as does the dealer. i thought SB might have pocket Q's at this point (and just made trips), but his attitude convinced me otherwise. turn comes J, making a second club. SB bets 5, i look down and see after i call, im down to 13$... i thought i had the best of it, so i went all in to make the button and SB pay if they were on a strait draw with the QJ on the board. button folds, SB doesn't hesitate to call at all, he turns AK of spades... my rockets dominate, when a blank turns on the river. now, SB is a pretty poor player, and i have a semi read on him, but he plays his 4 outer draw just as strong, and fast as his two pair 4 hands earlier. most of the time he has junk, and is agressive (always trying to buy the blinds when he's in position) my question is, was it the proper play? i took down the pot, but i think its only because of poor play by my opponents... thoughts? | ||

| Depends on the opponent. Bottom line is, you had a good read on this guy and knew he would play junk... espcially junk that he can't see is junk, like AK. Late in the hand, you want your rockets against less players, so knocking out the button is a good thing. So I think, in this instance you played it well... if you couldn't read the guy, or if you knew him to be a solid player, then I would say it was a bad play, cuz you would know he wouldn't be agressive if he didn't flop the set. | ||

| im just glad a blank fell on the river... he busted out two others, because he caught prayers after he called their all ins. one instance was that he had second pair (jacks) and a guy had kings.... one card to come, kings go all in, he calls, and on the river he catches a third jack. lucky f*****... ;) thanks for the comment *********** ¡¢£ßøx | ||

| With Aces, i want to get my money in pre-flop or on the flop, especially against more than one opponent. With people drawing you don't want to give free or cheap cards. Against someone who overplays their hands adn draws to gutshot straights, i would definately be all-in as early as possible, hoping to get called. thats how i play AA, but i'm more aggressive than most at low blind No Limit Mark | ||
