I'm very new to Texas Hold'em and was wondering what most players put in their play records. Any suggestions would be very appreciated.

Thank you

john

http://www.pokercharts.com/index.php will give you a good idea. It's free as well.

Poker For Dummys have good suggestions.

I ALWAYS write down percived tells but becuase of my inexperience in seeing tells, I confirme the tell before using it next time at the table.

I also write down ALL of my mistakes, not folding the A4o then A A 4 comes on the flop but keeping the A4o and betting into almost any other flop.

I try and keep lessons I learn and players on 3x5 cards wich are easy to review.

Hope this was helpful.

generally the same, # of times and situation where I called but shoulda known to fold, and # times when I folded woulda won. sometimes, very hard to track, (embarrassing to keep asking someone to see their last down card), so I probably only ask once in a great while, and ONLY if I know the guy. I played Friday night, 1/3 game, won 120 and I listed 5 mistakes in a 6 hour session that were definate mistakes, and noted new tendancy from regular that I had missed. Its embarrassing but yes, I do track player tendancies on cards too.

its still hard to track when you "should" have folded, or stayed... you can flop a full house with any 2 cards.. still doesn't mean you should play them. i just find it ironic, when the flop comes 772, and i folded 72 ;) i just take enjoyment in the fact that i know it was proper to fold the worst possible starting hand :)

i take very general play records... i record my win/loss, and the game played... and a quick comment on my general play or something i might need to work on. just me though.

Record whatever you want to track. I record win/loss amount, limit, location, time, and long term totals. I don't bother recording how I feel about the table, but that is because I only play at table I know I can beat and I'll pick the most beatable table all the time.
