home game question, Banning, 16. May 2003 16:03

I'm going to be going to a friend of a friends house to play some hold'em. My friend described the game thusly. Around 6 handed for the most part. They don't play with blinds just antes. It is no limit. It basically is played like a no limit tournament as everyone buys in for 10 bucks and then everyone antes 25 cents every round. I was just wondering about any suggestions for strategy. Also, should ones starting hand selection become alot looser seeing as the odds of hitting become alot nicer because of the amount of cash already commited to the pot: what i mean is, Do I stay in against a raise more often preflop? This seems odd to me seeing as supposedly in a no limit format one wants to only play premium hands. Any thoughts welcome.

For the most part, antes mean almost nothing in no-limit. However, since they are 2% of your buyin (I assume you get $10 in chips), you might want to loosen up SLIGHTLY. remember that the pot will have 15% of your stack already in for the grabbing. I'd raise more with the hands that I was going to play
However, for the most part, play a normal NL game.
