How much is enough?, SamDam, 10. May 2003 09:16 | ||

| I now have a bankroll of over 2000 times the BB in the limit I usually play. I do play higher from time to time usually with success. I also enter tournaments from time to time and that can be as much as 10 or even 20 BB's from my normal limit. Is it time to take some of the roll out and enjoy? How much do I need to keep for play at the usual limit and an occasional foray into the next higher limit? 500 BB's? 1000 BB's? | ||

| If you feel that you need to take money out of your account than just leave in enough to cover your average limit.(300BB should be plenty). If you also play in tournaments than tack on a little more for them as well,(Another $200 should do it). (If your usual limit is $1-2, than 300BB would be $600 plus the $200 that you'll be using to play in your tournaments would add up to $800 in your account.) Does that sound about right to you? Just keep whatever amount you feel comfortable with. Good luck. 4 POKER | ||

| Given the information you've given, I'd estimate around 400BB. But this depends on how good of a player you really are compared to your opposition. Also the number on entries in the tournaments you're playing. And the ratio of how often you play in the tournaments compared to ring games. -X Writer www.pokerev.com | ||

| You should keep at least 300BB in your roll...bad bad runs happen. For instance, I lost 120 big bets in my regular 10-20 and 15-30 games. I decided to enter things again slowly, so on Friday night I went to the speakeasy in downtown Kitchener to play a little fun fishy 3-6, and managed to lose 40 big bets in that game. So my downswing at mixed limits is now 160 BB. It is technically very possible that I now have another big run of bad luck immediately and my downswing continues for another 140 BB or more - it isn't likely - I'm a winning player...but your roll has to be able to handle this sort of trauma. | ||
