| Well after acquiring nearly 10K hands into my database now I have an updated list of my toughest competitors, I won't mention any of the fishier types because I want them all to my own. ..........................................Sessions........Won.............Hands........BB/HR 1. | Now that's not cricket. I'm against the public dissemination of this sort of information without the permission of those being mentioned. It would be the equivalent of making a face book of "Players at [whatever] Casino" and publishing details about everybody who plays regularly. Yes, I've thought about doing exactly that because you could probably get a lot of people to buy it, but the morality of it is pretty scummy. I'm not saying that you're immoral for posting this here, but in general I think that exposing a good player as such is bad business. When I'm sitting at a table with good players and a couple of fish I don't want the fish to know that any of us are good. I was us all to appear as hapless players so that the game seems fun and fair. | ||

Could it work to the players' advantage?, Easy E, 6. May 2003 08:32

| (hey, a SERIOUS answer- i'm losing my rush) Maybe not enough to overcome the loss of surprise, but could these "good" players now use their "image" effectively? | ||

| Have to agree with Stdioh, i dont think that this sort of info should be published but then it is a free world i guess ! I would keep the info to yourself as well and let other people work this out for themselves ! 7 High's Chasepoker | ||

| Yeah...I also think that it is ok to share this with friends, but I would draw the line at publishing it in a public forum. | ||

Yes, I've thought about doing exactly question: do you ever sit around with your friends and discuss players over drinks? or have skull sessions evaluating players while at a tournament? Is that scummy too? > that because you could probably get a lot of people to buy it, but the morality of it > is pretty scummy. > > I'm not saying that you're immoral for posting this here, but in general I think > that exposing a good player as such is bad business. | You are comparing apples to oranges. Between friends is one thing. For the whole world to see -- literally -- is another.

| sorry to have ruffled feather so I won' t put up any more of this data but I don't seriously think that it's going to hurt one bit. The average joe at the table ain't going to worry one bit about what I put out because they are going to damn well play that A3o whether ole Szan raised and ancho reraised. If you are a player on this site you probably already have a very good idea of who the best players are if you are paying attention. I thinking putting up the worse players would kind of be silly as I don't won't to have to face a bunch of you guys beating me to their table. The good guys/gals are going to get theirs regardless of what I put up there. | ||

| I think that it is perfectly fine to share information about players with your friends...I engage in that all the time. There is a quid pro quo there and that is all good. It's when something gets released to the public and widely diseminated that I don't think it's right. Sorta like I think it is ok to say to your pal, "Jim is a jerk," but less than apropriate to say to he world, "Jim is a jerk." The message is the same, but the amount of damage you're doing to Jim is on a different order of magnitude. | ||

| Well, since we're arguing about etiquette and not rules, we're all entitled to our own opinions. My opinion is that this sort of information should not be shared publicly and I would say that it is bad form to do so, but that's all I can say and if you disagree with me then that's your prerogative. But certainly no offence taken or intended on this subject, so don't think that I'm ready to defend my point of view to the death here or anything. | ||
