Could someone direct me to software that can provide me with the probability of any two starting cards prevailing against either two random cards or two specific cards? Thanks for the help in advance.

I am sorry. I should have given my recommendation also. Prock's is MUCH faster and has all the nice dummy buttons and colors and such. I am not a techi-type, and so, I probably don't know what I am missing on the brecware. There is also shareware out there called a paragon poker calculator, but I really don't know anything about it besides it's name. I wouldn't mind hearing your opinions on them. - Nathaniel Brous

Nathaniel,

Would you please help me with the following and then I will not bother you anymore. Regarding the PokerStove Software:

Questions:

1. Is there any written instructions available?

2. Does the evaluator provide me with "all in" calculations pre-flop. For example:
If player 1 has AcKd and player 2 has 9s9c pre-flop: Does the 55.271 % indicate that in a heads-up, all-in matchup, the wired 9's will beat the AKo a little more than 55 percent of the time?

3. Can you provide me with one example of how to use the board feature of PokerStove with players hand distributions? Every time I try, I get an error? Is this because this feature is not enabled and that PokerStove is only used for pre-flop "all in " calculations?

4. This last question is related to the previous question: Can the software be used to calculate random pre-flop probabilities assuming that all players will remain to the river? In my previous example, I would assume that in this case the AKo would be a favorite over the wired 9's?

Thanks so much for all your time and courtesy,

Bill A

I didn't see any.

Yes it does. The 55.271 was overall equity the 55.08 is straight win

Any chance you plugged the same card on the board as in your hand? That's the only way I get an error. Example, keep your above starting cards. Hit select button under board. Click on the Ah, 7s,8s,10s. Click Ok. Click evaluate.
Board: Ah 7s 8s Ts

equity (%) win (%) / tie (%)

Hand 1: 61.3636 % [ 61.36 00.00 ] { AcKd }
Hand 2: 38.6364 % [ 38.64 00.00 ] { 9s9c }

Hand Distribution ( 1): AcKd
Hand Distribution ( 2): 9s9c

I am not sure what you mean by this question. The 9's will always have value where the AK has potential. You can assign a random hand by clicking on the player button, then "two card" and then "all". I don't know about multiple random hands. Example 1,546,210,512 games 11.216 secs 137,857,563 games/sec Board:

equity (%) win (%) / tie (%)

Hand 1: 38.9143 % [ 38.56 00.36 ] { AcKd }
Hand 2: 43.8166 % [ 43.64 00.18 ] { 9s9c }
Hand 3: 17.2692 % [ 16.83 00.43 ] { random }

Hand Distribution ( 1): AcKd
Hand Distribution ( 2): 9s9c
Hand Distribution ( 3): random

I hope this helps. Andrew would probably be able to explain things a lot better than I did. His email is at the bottom of the PS page. - Nathaniel Brous

Thanks Nathaniel for the great information. I now understand better how to use the software and I realize its potential. Have a good evening.
