| Dear Roy Cooke and UPF Staff, I've been watching the World Poker Tour on the Travel Channel the last few weeks and I've been noticing how various starting hands are statistical favorites or underdogs in Hold Em, I think it would be great if UPF could somehow come up with a Starting Hand Calculator for the site, the premise being you plug two hands into the calculator such as AhAd vs 9s10s and the calculator could tell you something like AhAd is a 63% favorite to win heads-up by the river. If a calculator is too complex or problematic perhaps UPF could post a formula for handicapping starting hands heads up. I mean, would anyone guess that 77 and 88 are better heads up versus AA than KK or QQ are? Well statisically they'd be better bets because they have max stretch for straights, and the KK and QQ need an ace to make some of their straights, so if someone has AA that is two less aces in the deck. I can't be sure but that factor is probably worth about 2-3%. I think such a calculator would be a lot of fun and it would also give players a much stronger grasp for all-in No Limit Tourney hands. Thanks, Rick | ||

| Here's a nifty program that will work out all those stats you see on WPT: http://www.brecware.com/Software/software.html And you're right, 77 has a ~1.5% edge over KK when facing AA. Lee | ||

| Lee, you are a scholar and a gentleman. Thank you for your super program! I used your program to analyse the question I just posted on UPF, (AJo vs KJo if the flop was 8 8 J) and the results are ugly for the home team, but I learned something here. Thanks for a great post! flintsword | ||
