Trip report to Aztar, Evansville, IN, Don Quixote, 3. May 2003 10:32 | ||

| And now, for the trip report I threatened: I drove to Evansville yesterday afternoon and boarded the Aztar at 5:00 p.m. Should have known better than to get there that early because the regular sharks were waiting. I knew they were sharks because I looked around for the fish and didn't see any. Oh Oh, I must be the fish. Lowest holdem game is $5./10 and it was just starting. I sat down and bought in. I had played against 4 of the players, but the others were sharks that I had not yet met. Later on Fridays a "must move" table will start up. I should have waited for it because that is where the tourists set. That always gives me a chance to pad my bankroll before I must move into the shark-infested waters. I hadnt been to the boat in six months, and thought I was ready for the big boys which is why I got there earlier. So much for that ego self-deception bull :-) It was slow death. Oh well, live and learn. I finally got away after 5.5 hours having lost "only" 35 big bets. The moral to this story: Damn if I know :-) Anyway, if anyone is headed for Evansville, dont plan on boarding til about 8:00 pm. Give the fishies a chance to be seated at the "must move" table before you buy in. Also, there is so much distraction in a live poker room with all the slots screaming, the corn-fed Hoosier girls masquerading as cocktail waitresses, etc. The beautiful Asian ladies floating around the room were the most pleasant distraction. Old Miss Charlotte always says, "he check/raised me." The old Southern Belles like Miss Charlotte oozing their Southern charm reminded me of better past days gone by forever, but worst of all they remind me of how damn old I am (not getting, already there). Guess I will stay home and play online from the comfort of my big recliner. When I get back from the two hour trip to the boat, the 5 plus hours sitting in a straight back chair, and two hours driving home, my poor old back tells me it is time to graciously retire to the comfort and quiet of my home :-) Don Q. | ||
