I´m going to join a home tourney on Saturday. It´s a $30 buyin no limit holdem game and 15-20 people will join. I know two of the players and their very good, tight and aggressive, one of them is a very good tournament player, plays the players and reads them very good.

What I´ve heard about the other players is that they love the game but can´t play it. They usually play a very passive pot limit game. Don´t know if they´re tight or loose.

As you see I don´t have very much information.

I´m a limit player, but like to play pot limit and no limit. I´m very tight, and quite aggressive.

I don´t know anything about how many gets paid but I think about 3 or 4. My goal is to come in the money.

Do you guys have any general tips?

Don't challenge the players that you know to be good early and punish the one's that are passive so you can build your stack. If as you say a lot of the players are passive, then tight aggressive play (with some luck of course) should be enough to get you to the money. I would play tighter early and see how the table is flowing and then as you get a better handle on the landscape, start making more moves with your good hands (and marginal one's in steal position against the passive's).

The one thing that I have learned in no-limit is that you don't want to "call off" all of your chips (unless you are trapping); you want to make the other player have to make that decision, so be aggressive when you have the goods.

Good luck and let us know how you do.
