Over in England most of the games i play in are NL/PLHE with buy in for the first 90 mins and about 100 runners with 9 places paying.

I find that for the first 90 mins the games are ultra agressive with someone having to buy in every 3 or 4 hands ! This often means that by the time you reach the end of the first 90 mins on a table of ten people you often have about 30 buy ins on your table.

People often play any 2 cards against raises that you expect to knock them out. I have now found myself with about double my buy in at the end of the 90 mins a number of times but am then up against people who have gambled it up to about 5x their buy in !

Questions

1) Should i loosen up and try to get a large stack early ?

2) Should i anticipate having to buy in 3-4 times to have a chance of doing well ?

3) Should i just do what i do at the moment and just play good cards but maybe be behind on chips but only having brought in once or twice as opposed to 3-4 times ?

Yes. In a rebuy tournament, correct strategy is to play loose in an attempt to double up your stack early on. Once you have doubled your stack, you'll want to play tighter.

Be prepared to buy in 3 or 4 times, but don't anticipate it. I've won a rebuy tournament without rebuying - it happens all the time. You shouldn't be planning on busting, but in a rebuy tournament busting doesn't mean what it does after the rebuy period - your last few chips have almost no value.

Nope. You've got to give it some play early on or you'll be a giant dog to all those big stacks. I'm not saying that you should play garbage hands, but it is the time to take some chances.
