| Has anyone heard of, thought of or experienced this pheneomenon? I feel like I have way too many times. This is what it is. I play very well for a decent period of time. I build a sizeable bank roll and multiply my buy in by many times. For examlpe in the last two instances I turned $25 into $100 and $12 into $60 at .50/$1 Limit Hold'em and .25/.50 NL HE respectively. However, onece I have secured a large bankroll I proceed to blow it all away to nothing. Zippo. Goose Egg. Nada. It's like I get high and start blowing money like I don't like having it (which I most definately do). I am newbie, but I think I'm pretty good. I've only been playing for about 4 months now, and have even less experience playing at anything like a real game, most of the games I play in are with friends at school who are about as much competetion to me as I would be to Roy Mike or any other of the frequent posters on this site. What can I do to correct this so that I can keep the money that is rightly mine!? Looking foward to your replys, Doc | ||

| There are more kinds of tilting than the one where you take some bad beats. I would classify the three basic types of tilts as: 1. Beat tilting 2. Boredom tilting 3. Rush tilting (or antitilting as you call it) 1. Beat tilting has been written about ad eminem, so I'm going to leave that one alone. 2. Boredom tilting sneaks up on you. This happens when you're sitting at a juicy table and just not getting any cards at all. So you say, "My image is so tight I'm going to try to steal something." You play your K8o on the puck and hit a king. A fish bets and you raise - "yeah - he'll *know* that I'm on a monster." The long and short of it is that you lose the hand. Now you get 22 UTG and again decide to play it, but your tight image folds everybody to the blinds and you don't get enough action. You're playing cards that you wouldn't play because they are the best that you are getting - BAD BAD BAD. 3. Rush tilting. This is most common among players who believe in luck. It's a trap for fish. The idea is that you are getting bad cards and you switch seats to change your luck. Then you win three hands in a row (which happens a lot when you play most hands). All of a sudden you're on a rush and can't be beat. You then get slaughtered because you are a Bad Bad Poker Player. The simple answer is this: If you are playing nonoptimally because of something that happened in the past, then get up and go for a walk, talk to yourself, and bring your best game back to the table. If you can't do this then get up and go home. Yes, even if you are crushing the opposition, it might be time to leave. Whatever you do, don't think of your winnings as easy money that you can blow away without remorse - they are worth as much as the money you dig out of your wallet and won chips should be treated with just as much respect as bought chips. | ||

| Nothing wrong with bailing out when you think the $ you have earned is about to evaporate. I took a hard beat last night after winning almost every hand I brought to the river and it bothered me. I got up for a while and went back when I was ready. Played 2 hands and it was still on my mind so I left for the night. Had a good night but disaster was on the way. LISTEN to stdioh & the others, not long ago I would have been so red ass aggressive to make that pot back that I would have lost everything I had made. John | ||

| If I don't win almost every hand that I bring to the river then I am having a very bad night. I don't play hands to the river unless I expect to win them or I am making a stone cold bluff. | ||

| :) I guess that part sounded bad. Of course I expect to win at the river, and I am upset when I don't. I need to get the mind of a cornerback in football( one play is over on to the next) Thanks John | ||
