I gotta tell ya, seems like the last few days, things have been running pretty poorly. Here's the latest example.

I raise UTG with QQ. We take the flop 5 handed, and it comes Q 2 4 rainbow. This is about as good as I could ask for. SB checks to me and I bet out, and to my surprise, it's capped by the small blind before it even gets back to me. Hooray! Turn brings 7c. There's now 2 clubs on board, but no straight in sight. Small blind bets out, I raise, 2 middle position call, small blind raises and I cap it. One of the middle position calls. River brings the 3c. I bet, get raised, and call. Someone shows Ac Jc. He takes down a pot that was about 30 big bets.

I got up right there and went to watch tv, about as steaming as I've ever been from a card game. How do you deal with crap like this?

Lee

Hey Schuster,
What you can do is take a break, you did that- Great!
You can keep playing.
You can go home.
There are several options for you to chose from. Just make sure that your not going on tilt and can mentally and emotionally continue to play a good solid game of poker.
Everyone takes bad beats, you just deal with it, it's part of the game and you have to remember that... IT'S PART OF THE GAME,PERIOD. Keep saying it until it really sinks in.
I'm sure you have put bad beats on other players without even realizing it... we all have.
Just know that when you're in there with the best of it and you're maximizing your chances to take down the pot, you'll come out just fine. Be selectively aggresive, keep your losses to a minimum,
make sound-minded decisions, think with your head and not with your emotions and the rest will take care of itself.

Better luck to you buddy.
Dave.

It's a tough beat, because all he flopped was a backdoor flush and straight draw with one overcard, but suckers often put those beats on good players, the key word "suckers," just remember that, and don't steam too much, or you'll become the "sucker."

Hey Lee . . . What limit were you playing? I've seen the same thing happen many a time, idiots betting with absolutely nothing and getting ridiculously lucky. I'm curious about the limit because I've seen that b.s. happen from 1/2 to 5/10 games. It's like the person holding A-Jc knew what the turn and river would bring, therefore justifying his capping of the flop and turn.

It was a 2/4 game, and what I thought was a pretty good one at that. I hadn't really hit much of a hand yet, so my eyes really lit up with that flop. I guess it happens, and I'm gonna remember that player as being willing to pay for super long shot draws.

This can happen at a loose 20-40 game, so don't be fooled by the limit. What we all need to remember is all the time we never got to see the AJs that called the flop and turn caps because the flush never came. Over the long haul, I guarantee that you have more of his $$ than he has of yours. So, you should smile!!!!

In all seriousness, it is a tough beat and when they happen (to me at least), they come in bunches. But, I think you did the best thing by getting up and regaining your compsure. That's something that I need to work on.
