I've tried to play limit Hold 'em and just absolutely suck at it. so, ive pretty much given up on it and decided to stick to no limit. i was just wondering if anybody knows of casinos or cardrooms that have $100 or $200 buy-ins or something smaller. Or should i just stick with the no-limit tourneys?

All responses are really appreciated.
thanks in advance

I don't know what area you are writing from but Hawaiian Gardens has a no-limit game. $100 max buy-in, re-buys allowed if you are $50 or below. Blinds $3 & $5 ( I think )
Commerce Casino has a pot limit game at night. Blinds vary
Much bigger game.
Good luck

If you want to test yourself out in Limit in a multi table environment for zero dollars, try the tournaments at www.bugsysclub.com, play money section. The players are pretty good since they are competing to enhance their win percentages and ranking as players, and additionally, the site is a feeding ground for a multi-tiered, free competition for significant tournament sponsorship, so there are a few very strong players playing. It will also cost you nothing while you iron the kinks out of your limit game.

This sort of reminds me of people who state that low limit poker can' t be beat. I doubt you are going to find any top players who will go on the record as stating that no limit is easier than limit poker. There is just too large an increase in variables in no limit than limit.

Do yourself a favor and start over with limit poker. If you can't win at limit poker, you are likely going to be chum for the sharks that play no limit year round. If you are just trying to have fun and maybe make a big score, then maybe no limit is the way for you to go. If you are thinking about a steady income, then I suggest you master limit poker first. You are really going to need some of the skills you will pick up. - Nathaniel Brous

I've been playing No Limit for just over a year. I don't play No Limit because i cant beat the limit games. I have been very successfull at No Limit home games and tourneys. The only reason i decided to give limit a try is because the casinos around me only have limit games.

Go to Europe and play- they play nothing but pot limit and no limit over there!!
I know several players that ONLY play no limit and pot limit and they happen to be very successful.

I am sure you do, but I'm guessing they play no limit because they prefer it (it is the game of choice there), not because they can't beat limit poker. - Nathaniel Brous

Playing no limit well is something that can be learned very quickly if you are a particularly astute person with an eye for understanding humans. Getting good at limit takes more patience and experience - more reading - more crap to wade through. That said, learn to play limit well. If you are profitable at NL then you can be profitable at limit and limit adds the giant benefit of not being nearly as swingy.
