Where to find tournament rules, TKarrde, 24. Apr 2003 13:51

Is there any place on the web that I can find tournament rules? We were discussing throwing our own little WSOP but need something solid to fall back on. Some things we aren't sure how to do. How fast do the blinds go up? Do they add an ante? When do they color up? How and when do you start moving players to different tables? What is a good payout structure? Of course we would adapt these rules to our needs but we need something to guide us.

Thanks,

TK

You're probably going to put your own twist on it anyway, so don't sweat the small stuff.

If you'd like a blind structure, email the Mirage and ask them for their "weekly tournament schedule". The accompanying flyer has the schedule of increasing blinds, breaks, and buy-in cut-offs.

Here is the link to the "Texas Tears" rules for tournaments as used in the WSOP you seem keen on emulating: http://www.pokerpages.com/pokerinfo/texstears/index.htm
Additionally, you may want to search the web at www.google.com for some of Matt Savage's contributions to rules of poker and poker tournaments. Lastly, surf www.cardplayer.com archives for rules related articles. Hope this helps!
