| In a typical low limit holdem game..... UTG1 and UTG2 limp, MP raise. I'm in the CO with Ad Qd and call. Button, BB, UTG1 and UTG2 call. 6 handed. Flop: 2s 9d 5d Check to MP who bets. I call as does UTG1 and UTG2. 4 handed. Turn: 7d Completing my flush. Again check to MP who bets. I call with UTG1 and UTG2. River: Ts Check to MP who bets, I raise. MP calls and turns over TT. How would you have played this? Thanks in advance for your comments. | ||

| Often players will reraise a middle position raiser with AQ suited however there's nothing wrong with just calling. (it really depends on the quality of play from the initial raiser- if this player is pretty tight and only raises premium hands, then I would not reraise in this spot. If he was a loose player who raised on inferior holdings then yes, I would be more apt to reraise in that spot with AQ suited.) I think I would have been a little more aggressive on the flop- only because you have quite a bit of dead money in the pot already- you did flop the nut flush draw and you have two overcards that probably will be good if they hit on the turn. So at this point, why let a player behind you get a chance to see the turn for just one small bet? The flop was filled with uncoordinated low cards and most players will "see" the turn for a cheap price just to try to hit one of their overcards. Don't let them draw cheaply at this flop- if they make a pair on the turn, you'll have to hit your hand for sure, and now the betting can get very expensive for YOU. I say raise the flop, try to get it heads up and hope that you either hit one of your overcards or you complete your flush. It's ok if the players behind you call your raise on the flop, your nut flush draw "welcomes" their call- and even though you might want everyone in just in case you do make it, at this point, like I said, the pot is already a decent size, so if they call your bet on the flop, that's ok,(just keep in mind, you WILL have to make something; either a pair or your flush) but if they fold now leaving you heads up with the original raiser then that's ok, too. You still have numerous outs available to you. 4 POKER | ||

| I like the way you played the hand. I might have three bet it preflop though. Your call on the turn was good, but risky. | ||

| I would maybe reraise pre-flop, depending on the raiser. I like raising the flop there for a free card on the turn. i would definately raise the turn if i thought the player would call there and on the river. mark | ||

| I think you played this hand well. I believe that cold-calling with a hand like AQs in this situation (typical low-limit game) is fine because of its multi-way possibilities. If it was offsuit, it would be much more appropriate to re-raise or fold, depending on the nature of the raiser. On the flop, I'd say it's close between raising and calling here. On the one hand, you're on a draw, and don't want to knock out the other players giving you value. On the other hand, raising here increases the possibility that your hand will hold up if you hit a Q or A (for eg, you might knock someone out who holds A5), and you might even be able to take a free card on the turn if you don't improve. On the turn, again I think it's close between raising and calling. It depends largely on the nature of your opponents, and what you believe they are holding. If the players behind you are notorious calling stations who will come in for one big bet but not two with something pretty crappy (eg middle pair or one medium-big diamond), just call and let them draw dead. However, if you have reason to believe that anyone has a set or two pair, you really should raise to make them pay to draw out on you. | ||
