How did $8K and $7,999 tie? by a vote? Or just to meet the WPT schedule needs?

How are the payouts being changed to accomodate the extra player being paid? Or aren't they in the money yet?

Also, since I doubt I'll get a reply from WPT, based on the auto-email i received....
What do the players think about the payout schedule? I'm especially interested in Doyle, Layne, Phil H, Phil Ivy, the Shulmans, and the guys from overseas.

Thanks

I am not sure how they arrived at these figures since there never were any $1 chips on the table. As for the WPT schedule needs, they were to play to 27 players or 6pm, whichever came first. I would have bet on the 6pm line....and I would have lost!

They are in the prize money now. I am assuming that the 27th place would be split between the two who went out during the last hand in play for the day. Here are the payouts:
Prize Money

1 $1,011,886 2 506,625
3 253,313 4 159,987
5 119,990 6 93,326
7 66,661 8 53,329
9 42,663 10 31,997
11 31,997 12 31,997
13 26,664 14 26,664
15 26,664 16 21,332
17 21,332 18 21,332
19 15,999 20 15,999
21 15,999 22 15,999
23 15,999 24 15,999
25 15,999 26 15,999
27 15,999

I don't have any firsthand knowledge about this. If I were to make a guess (and please don't flame me for it) I would think that they would have preferred less spots be paid. That is just my thoughts on what they likely are thinking.

At first, I assumed i was an idiot for not realizing that the bottom two went out together and weren't in the final rounds... but the way your post reads (no prize money) and the distraction of the $1 difference made me think that I could remove the dunce cap award.

However, on rereading it, I AM an idiot (though a subtle one), since $8K plus $7999 = prize for 27th place.
In my defense, your post didn't make this obvious on a casual reading (the $ is missing from all of the chip positions). Maybe you can be more obvious next time for us idiots...

So, just because I'm stupid, you're saying there are only 26 final participants, correct? And Steve Zolotow and Casey Kastle are out?

PS- I was hoping you, or someone at WPT, might survey some of the players and get their feelings about the payout structure. I wasn't expecting you already know that info

Yes, and they shared in the 27th prize money of $15,999...someone got the odd $1!

And you also are right that this was not posted very well. I copied and pasted from what I was sent by the Bellagio and there could have been better info provided.....

Maybe next time?

Hope you enjoyed the WPT show last night!

I would have much preferred that they paid 90 spots!

No sure how motivated you'd be if the final table only split a million, though...

Another thought- would the first two rounds take forever, since EVERYONE would be on the bubble almost from the getgo?
:)
