WPT #4- Costa Rica- my brief comments, Easy E, 17. Apr 2003 06:17

| 1) Vince, unless I heard incorrectly, called a winning flush a straight (K on board paired up someone's hand, which is all that Vince was commenting on, along with 2 flush cards. No comments from EITHER announcer, other than "strong hand" on the flop, about how huge a hand the player had) If I heard that wrong, someone correct me. If I was right, there was NO EXCUSE! The comments aren't added until later- REVIEW YOUR DAMN WORK! 2) Much tighter game in general than we've seen so far on the WPT. Some surprising laydowns, given what we've seen in the previous shows... but they were different players. I wonder if non-poker heathen were bored? The trips Tens over Kings Full was dramatic, though.... and Vince and Mike ARE trying to add excitement to ordinary hands with their overly dramatic announcing. 2 part 2) We need some more drama from the players, as others have mentioned in previous threads! Not the most exciting television last night 3) Dewey T was NOT on tilt, he was making a great play following his TT. Get a clue! Side note- Evidently the WPT is hearing us, got my first automated reply from my email to them yesterday.... not that they are going to ANSWER, of course.... ... and I really didn't appreciated the pitching, but I'm not surprised: "Thank you for contacting World Poker Tour through www.worldpokertour.com! | I thought last night's telecast was way better than the Aruba one. Granted, Vince is a loser and I might have to start muting, but the poker was better. I thought the best part was watching Luis "call away" his chips with inferior hands. It really drove home the point to me that in NL, you need to be raising rathr than calling. | ||

Vince may only be a "loser" to us..., Easy E, 17. Apr 2003 07:59

| Maybe he's good for their ratings, and non-players might not catch some of the obvious mistakes??? The poker play WAS generally better... maybe as a direct result, also less "interesting" from a viewers-only standpoint? | ||

| I think that the 'non-poker heathen' (<---trademark that phrase!) that might have been alittle bored, would certainly be encouraged to see a guy (Luis) with a MASSIVE chip lead, be taken down by making just plain silly calls. Everyone loves a David vs. Goliath conflict, and ill also bet that many younger players dont need much encouragement walking into a poker room wearing that 'David' mask. And they will certainly be welcomed with open arms! :) My jury is still out as to whether or not i can stomach Vince during these WPT telecasts. Id mute it as you suggest shorn, but then id miss Mike Sexton's comments, which are pretty good most of the time. Keep it Squeaky, MouseBeast ~~(__)8> | ||
