Hi,
You said you lived in England?
I have a question regarding pot limit and no limit games.

I here that most of the games that are spread in Europe are no limit and pot limit. If that's true, do you play alot of live poker over there?
I would like to hear some of the strategie's and maybe some helpful advice on the subject.
Thanks,

Hello 4,

I have only been playing for about 2 or 3 years and have played in a few tournys in B&M casinos ( perhaps 20 ish ?? i guess that is a lot to me ! ) and they are all PL or NL. There are often cash games going on there which from what i believe are NL or dealers choice.

You need to remember that over here we are still living by laws made in the first world war ( pubs shut at 11pm, women just got the vote ) and thus to visit one of casinos you need to either a) register 24 hours before or b) be signed in by a member - this means it is real hassle for random people to enter a casino and holds a lot of people back IMO.

That said the people you get in them are either a) pretty darn good or b) people who like to " gamble ".

Dont know if that answers any of your question i am sure there are people in here with a LOT more knowledge than me about it all.

But if you are in London give me a shout and i will certanly show you the London casions / boozers !

Thanks chase,
Yeah, I've heard that there's a lot of gamble that goes on in those N/L games. But there are really good players in Europe as well. I know that when I flew out to the WSOP last year there were so many N/L and P/L games going on and quite a few of the players were from your neck of the woods. The players in the game were really jamming up the pots almost every single hand...the P/L,N/L games where I usually see them at are not nearly as aggresive as the ones seem to get in Las Vegas during the WSOP.
It must be a whole different poker world when you strictly play in games that do not have structured betting. That must be tough, but I guess one gets used to it if that is what they offer. You gotta have a little gamble in ya to play those games, anyway!!
Thanks for the reply chase,

p.s. maybe someday I'll take you up on that invite... I'd love to see England.

Of course just to be logical i have decided to play a lot of on-line LHE and am focusing most of my learning into that ( the limit part rather than the On-line).

Also youmight be the person to ask this, i know LHE is a lot more mechanical the NLHE and i realise that playing in B&M is a lot differnt form on-line but for learning the game and a lot of the theory am i, do you think, losing a lot by not playing in B&M and just playing on-line ?

I am constatly showing a profit on-line and am making $4.50 per game in the $10 Paradise Limit tourny's ( based on over 500 games - since i started keeping records !) and also i make $1.8 per hour in the $1-2 HE games. Can i continue to learn ( as i feel i am ) a lot from on-line play ?

Every day i seem to glean some more insight into the game and most weeks i suddenly have a 'revelation' which adds to my game, through either reading books/stuff on here or through thinking about the game a lot away from playing. Do these ' revelations' keep on happening or is it just because i am in the early stages of my learing ( as i said i have only been playing for 2-3 years )

Sorry for the ramble but i do quite like playing and would love to know your opinion on how i can progress, is it through more reading, more playing, more analysys away from the table or i guess all 3.

Thanks for the time

Hi,
If you are making good money from on-line poker then you don't have to go into the casinos if you feel more comfortable with that type of play. However, I feel that you can learn a lot more from the game when it is played "Live".
As someone who is fairly new to the poker world, if I were you, I would spend a little more time getting the practice and the true feel for the game by playing in a casino.

Because there are so many variables in poker, whether it be the mathematics, theory, psychological concepts- I could go on and on,(but I won't) you will find yourself learning more and more each and every time you play. In fact, It is when we think that we have learned everything and feel that there is nothing more to know, that we miss out on all the knowledge and new information that is put out there every single day. By trying to learn and by allowing yourself to open up to new ideas and theories will only improve your game and keep you on top of your opponents.
Keep reading, take notes, keep records of your results and enjoy the game!
Good luck,
I hope this helped.
