Well I have been wanting to play some NL so I could be like the the guys in the WSOP!! :)

Finally played in a Sit and Go at UB for Points only. Put in my 100 points and prepared to be deflowered. Didn't have any expectations but was gonna play tight.

To make a long story short. I was chips leader or second most of the time. Got down to me and one other guy who you could tell was good at NL from the very begining.

Don't remember many hands... except how I lost it.

I had come back from T3300 to T6600 to about T4800 to T5200. Held A6o. Flop came 677. I raised 300. He called. Turn came J. No flush out there. I learned early that agression was good. I went all in to try and grab the T1000 out there. He called. Showed A7. Trips?? Argh!! And if that wasn't bad enough his Ace killed mine. At the time, however, I thought a 6 could save me. After discussing it with friends I realized that I was dead before the river came.

But it was fun!!! What a rush!! And I earned an extra 200 points with what I have no idea what to do. (Anyone know what you can do with UB points?)

TK

When you have enough UB points, you can redeem them for prizes, or you can use them to enter Aruba satellites, real money tournaments, etc. Here's a link that'll tell you more:

I've already picked up Turbo Texas Hold'em software and Ray Zee's HiLo Split Poker book with my Ultimate Points.

If you're going to learn to play nolimit tournaments, playing with UB points is about the best thing that you can do. You get to play for something with real value, so people won't be gigantic idiots and you don't have to put chunks of your bankroll to risk either.

Heads up play is an area where a lot of players need to do a lot of work. I find that most sit-n-go players on UB stink terribly when the tourney gets heads up and that is the most important time to play well. So if you want to be good at playing NL tourneys, I would suggest playing lots of points sit-n-go's and read up on nolimit heads up strategy.
