| In a 15-30 Holdem game with blinds of 10 & 15, how many players need to be in the pot pre flop before it would become profitable for the small blind to call the extra 5$ with just about any 2 rags; e.g. 10-5, J-4 & the like. Thanks, Blachjakk | ||

| For a third of a bet you're getting implied odds that you hit something and get paid off against any number of opponents with any two cards. If it's just you and a big blind who doesn't raise much preflop even with position on you the whole way, you're getting 5:1 pot odds on the call. That's enough to play anything against a random hand. With another player in the pot it's 8:1 to try and beat both of them, still worthwhile. The only time it would be unwise to call for a third of a bet is when the player in the big blind raises with a wider range of hands that a typical player would. Even then only fold the absolute trash like 93o. | ||

| I voice agreement with my esteemed collegues. You've got to play anything here if you can limp...unless you see that the big blind has wet his chair because he's holding pocket aces and is already throwing a raise into the pot. | ||
