I fairly new to online poker but paradise is by far the best in my opinion. Aztec riches poker is pretty good too and poker stars seems ok but nothing compares to the selection at paradise poker. Go there Good luck

Hi Russ,
I'm not really sure if you have had some bad luck with some of the poker sites that are out there, however if all poker sites are on the up and up, then it really is a matter of preference to you.
Most poker sites offer many hold-em tables to choose from ranging in all limits, but there are a few that have more low limit games than others.
Paradise Poker has a vast selection of games, as does Party Poker and Poker stars. There is one site called Pokerroom (Pokerroom.com), that has quite a few lower limit games to chose from and the games there seem to be a little softer. The graphics are a little "cheesy", but if you can get past that, you might enjoy that one as well. Like I said, it's really a matter of preference, based on experience. For me personally, i used to play at Paradise Poker but did not find their customer service department to be very helpful.
Try Party Poker (formally, Empire Poker). They give you good bonuses for depositing small amounts of money (with no hidden clauses),
and the hold-em games there are really good. It seems to be on "the up and up", and you can play $ 1-2 limit hold-em up to $15-30, around the clock.
I hope i was a bit of a help to you, but check around and judge for yourself. Good luck Russ,

4 POKER:)

I play from time to time (for fun - better to play some tiltiness away at a $1-$2 than in real life) on ultimatebet. It's a pretty well run site, but I think that the possibility of players talking on the phone with eachother goes up because I hear that they don't work very hard to weed out collusion.

That said, I play with a girl at Brantford who is a host for partypoker.com and it sounds like they run a really tight ship there, so if you're concerned about finding an honest game, that's probably your best bet.

I've already turned down two offers to get involved with a group of players that use instant messenger (presumably audio with a one second delay) playing on-line. That's why I only play low-limit Internet poker, and it is unlikely this will ever be a substitute for live play as a serious income. There's no gaming commission on the Internet, all they can do is ban certain accounts. These cheaters will just play another site or get different accounts.

Wow. That's pretty frightening that people are offering others to join a ring. I hope that you turned them in?

Who exactly does one turn in such players to when you don't know their screen names? Furthermore they are marginal losers in the live games and contribute to paying my rent. My decision was just to decline and ignore it. Not the highest ethically possible thing to do, but I'd rather not get any more involved.

I can understand that. I would think that if you had their real names and what site they were doing this on, you could forward the info. to that client service team as a warning. They would have the matching screen names and could probably leave you out of it totally.

Out of curiosity, at what level (5-10, 15-30, etc.) were they doing this?

Neither discussion got that far. Limits were not mentioned, but I presume 3-6 or 5-10 hold'em.

OK. I was hoping it was higher limits (where I don't generally play online). You mind giving the site name or was that not revealed either?

The problem with cheating at cards online is that you are not breaking the law in your country. For instance, party poker is based in Costa Rica. There is no law against cheating at cards there. Therefore, if you cheat you are not violating Canadian or American law, but a law that does't exist in Costa Rica where you are actually doing the gambling. Thus all they can do is kick you off. In Canada you can get a max of 2 years in the can for cheating at cards and I believe that in Nevada you can get 10.

Wow, Is that true?
There is no justice to be served for cheating on-line because the site is based in Costa Rica, where it is not illegal to cheat? That's awful.
I have a question: In your opinion, do you think there is much cheating at the lower limits? I know anything is possible and it is quite easy for players to be in collusion with one another, but how can someone live with themselves?
Now that I think of it... I know of a few people that have gotten thrown out of live poker rooms for cheating, so there are definitely players who cheat on-line.
(I'm sorry, but to think otherwise would be naive). Much easier to do so.
For me, If I play on-line poker, and I really do enjoy it, then I'll always stick to the low limit games and I'll make sure that I am playing against an entire field... no short-handed games for me.

Well, colluding like that best hand play doesn't change the game too badly. I think that if I'm playing online I generally only play with total 'tards at very low limits, so I don't worry about it. The money I put on there really isn't of consequence to me. Now in real cardrooms, things can be a lot worse...I would care about that more. But yes, there is no jurisprudence to be had against online cheaters.

Feel free to list (n/a) to those you've never been to, instead of listing them in last place.

One might also consider listing the screen names of cheaters on sites such as this one and warning other players on the chat lines when these players are spotted at the tables.

That could be considered libelous, and would probably be deleted.

Not to mention the fact that two people can have similar names and changing your name is as simple as starting a new account. I don't think it would do any good and it might do some ill.
