You want to steal the blinds with any hand that you think you can get away with it, but there is the risk that you'll get called or reraised, so you don't want to try it with total garbage cards. Thus you want to steal from the button when you have at least a marginally decent hand...something that can compete against the two random hands that you are trying to buy blinds from. If you have AA it is a travesty to steal the blinds, since on average your aces will make you a lot more that .75 big bets. On most hands, however...for instance AJo, stealing the blinds is a wonderful outcome. You are essentially making 45 minutes of profit that hand. General advice on when to steal is have experience and just know...until you have experience, I would say that you should steal with any hand that you would play, given whatever number of limpers in whatever position. So don't go stealing with 27o, but do try to take it with any ace, with suited connectors, with two cards over 9...these sort of hand. Something that actually stands a fighting chance of winning if you get a caller. Also, don't steal every chance you get or you'll get no respect and be called by any relatively decent hand. | ||

| I would never post both blinds in the small blind position just to get the button on the next hand. Skip the button and make a normal late position post instead. You'll be glad you are not out of position if you get a raising hand. This is just a gimmick for players who can't wait, the button is not worth the dead small blind. | ||
