I am nineteen and live in chicago. I have just gotten into poker and have been reading all that i can get my hands on about it. I am having trouble getting some steady games going. Does anyone have any advice on how to do this, or know of any cardrooms around here that are only 18 and over? any advice on this, or in general about getting into poker would be of great help. thank you.

Congrats. I was a beginner and depending on who you talk to, ... still am ... lol. Read everything and enjoy the game. Not everyone can be a winning player - by definition - so you might as well enjoy the ride as you get better. Setting up your own, low-limit game is probably your best option, and the choice of millions in North America. Good food at the game, friendly competition, and like-minded players (ie) wnna learn, wanna get better is the key to getting better. Read what the *good* players at the forum have to say. Best of luck.

Your best bet might be coming up to Canada. I don't know exactly what the rules are in the various states, but as far as I understand you have to be 21 in the USA. In canada the age for drinking and casinos varies between the provinces, some being 18 and others being 19. There are a couple of casinos in Southern Ontario that spread hold'em (Brantford and Rama). Check around the internet and see if there is something in Winnipeg - if I'm not mistaken it isn't far from Chicago.

There is an awesome casino in Winnipeg that looks suspiciously like the Paris Casino in Las Vegas (clouds on ceiling and simulated sky) with some good players and some torsks. I had some good fun there recently. Atmosphere good.
