Anybody have any comments on Sklansky's revised tournament strategy as discussed in this weeks CardPlayer magazine (www.cardplayer.com)? It is his revised strategy of the simplistic form he refers to in his tournament book.

I think it looks very interesting and might be an aggressive method to get some chips in the early rounds against notable professional players.

I am no expert but the system looks useful against players good enough to recognise ! I fear though that where it will fall down is that too many players will " incorrectly " ( sic) call the all in bet too often and thus you will be left with hands like 89s up against JJ or AQ as people will call these often enough to make you go broke.

But then as i said i am no expert but would love to hear some expert opinion on this as this is something i often think about, how going all in tourny's can negate your opponents skill.

Actually, the only real chance this system has is having people call with their crap. You need to have somebody call your KK with QQ or so...double up...or hit a coin flip hand and get the best of it. In general, the system is a big loser. I'd say its best way to make money is by making it early and then being able to weather a call from AA when it inevitably comes.

There's a thread on twoplustwo about this.

Go Here:

Or Here (this one is about a seminar Sklansky gave at the Bellagio concerning the system):
