This may belong in the not quite poker, but i think it may improve this site, so here it is.

I'm a very big supporter of free speech, but wouldn't this site be a little better off if ONLINESCAMS was not allowed to post?

While his posts do deal with the subject of poker he/she is making accusations and offering no proof. In fact, many people who post here have proof to the contrary.

Normally, I support free speech in all its forms whether i like it or not, but in the interests of keeping this site poker content oriented, and not devolving to the level of false accusations and name calling (which I have been quilty of in the past), wouldn't we be better off without ONLINESCAMS posts?

As far as I understand it this site is for discussion of poker related topics with the purpose of educating and learning. There are other sites (some would say inferior) who do not moderate their content, and as a result have deteriorated to name calling and false accusations, and are generally a waste serious player's(students) time.

I am very afraid that this site may start to deteriorate if accusations and false information are allowed to be posted.

This may just be a coincidence but, what happened to the other pros who used to post, like Jim Brier?

That's just my 2 cents.

Mark

I'm with you Mark. Free speech is not a right to an audience. This is a private forum with a topic. There are places for people like ONLINESCAMS to post and this isn't one of them. I'm sure there must be a forum out there for crybabies who lost all of their money playing online poker.

I'm sure you just sent shivers up the site's big-wig's spines.

You don't want this discussion, just as they were nervous about the Smoke Free casino discussion.

Do not censor just because you don't like what he's posting. Exercise your right to say he's mistaken, or EXERCISE YOUR RIGHT TO NOT RESPOND, like the other 99% of people reading his posts.

Good point

Normally, that is exactly what i do, but in this case the forum has a specific topic AND should be discussed in a fair and balanced way. I do believe that people should have the right to say what ever they want, but I don't think that everyone should have to listen to, or make available, unproven liable statements.

I'm afraid that allowing posts, such as ONLINESCAM's, may lead to the degredation of this site and the loss of a valuable (not to mention free) resource for everyone else who is serious in improving their game.

Indeed. RGP is a shizznat forum because it is so littered with trolls and flames and all kinds of Krazy Krap. I really like this forum *because* almost everything that people have to say has at least some merrit. People ask good questions and post nice responses and even when they are griping or venting it usually has a purpose. And even if you are going to pipe in and moan about something, that's ok too, so long as it can be done intelligently. BTW, if anybody wants to hear me moan, I can go on for hours about www.vcpoker.com deducting funds from my account there :)
