Great games, but lots of bad beats, Tommy, 2. Apr 2003 01:05

| This hand was from a loose passive 10-20-30 HE game. I was in the SB with KK, four players limped, the button raised, and I three bet, the BB folded and two of the limpers folded and two called two cold, and the button called. The flop was 445, I bet out, they all called. The turn was another 4, I bet out again they all called. The river was a King, I bet, one limper called, and the other over called, and the button folded. The first limper showed me the 4c2c, for four of a kind, the other limper had the case King with a nine. This sort of thing seems to happen alot in these loose games. I came close to tilting, because not long before this hand came up, I had a set of aces snapped by a gut shot. My question is this, If I can handle the emotional and financial swings, is this game more profitable than A typical game in the long run? | ||

| Absolutely more profitable. Anyone who would cold call a three-bet out of the small blind with 42c and then not raise the river when he has quads is a guy I want to play with ALL DAY LONG. Not to mention the yahoo who called the flop with K9 off...was there a draw in there that I missed? Wow...this will be a volatile game for your bankroll, but when you win, call the armored truck. | ||

Consider yourself lucky that the player with a 4 didn't bet harder. You were behind the whole way and this is the sort of hand that should cost you a lot of money. The fact that the character with quads didn't raise the river just shows how terribly soft the game is. Just smile, say good hand, and play again.
