| And if you play in tourny's you could always go for Slanksy's Tourny book. Just for variety. | ||

| Stay away for HEPFAP for now, until you are playing at 10-20 or higher. The best book, even better than Lee Jones's book, is Carson's Complete Book of Hold'em. It is written in an extremely clear language that makes difficult concepts understandable, even to a beginner. HEPFAP is a great book, but not for the beginner. Sklansky's first book is better for beginners. It has a section on "Flops you Want" which is excellent, however, I wouldn't focus too much on memorizing hand groupings, it is more important to learn what type of game gives certain kinds of hands value, for example small pairs and small suited connectors like lots of limpers in the pot, you like to raise with big pairs and two big unsuited cards, you need a better hand to call a raise than to raise yourself, etc... | ||
