One more thing in that scenario. If the AQ doesnt fold after the flop, and they decide to double team me, I now have to beat AK and AQ, so when the Jack comes on the turn, on the river instead of just avoiding a King on the riverm I now have to avoid a Queen. Some thoughts please.

You're using a specific hand to make a case, rather than a general concept. Unless the couple is signaling each other (a raise isn't a signal of anything but a good hand), or cheating in another detectable way, you can't attribute collusion to their actions.

That said, it can be problamatic for your group if they DO continue to play together- too much chance for players to react negatively. You might have to address it.

Personally, I play my spouse just as hard as anyone else. My reads are a little better due to intimate knowledge, so I have an advantage there...

I don't see anything wrong with a couple playing against you, so long as you trust them. You're playing for very small amounts of money here, so it's really not worth their while to be running any kind of a scam. To put it into perspective, there's a stockbroker nolimit game in Toronto that I could walk right into. It's full of fish, but the buyin is $3K and the blinds are 20-40...just too rich for me. Scammers are going to head to games like that in droves.

By the same token, I often end up at the same table as my girlfriend. We're both very solid players and for that reason alone I'd rather not sit with her. There is at least one collusiony effect that happens from this though. We both know eachother extremely well, so we're very good at reading eachother. When she's got a monster hand, I can often tell and likewise, she's got an uncanny ability to nail me for it every single time I make a set on the flop. Now, knowing that is like running a best hands play. It's not that we're actively colluding...just that we know eachother a little too well. For that reason, you're probably better off keeping them from playing together.

Of course it is this sort of thing that has caused me to turn my nose up at home games. Though it happens in the casinos too. There is a couple who plays in my local casino and I don't think anybody there knows they are married...they don't associate with eachother in the cardroom. Nonetheless, they play in Vancouver too and when they are there they are not allowed to play at a table together. You'll never catch me playing at a table with both of them together - not that I think they are cheating, but that I don't want to take a chance. When things go bad in poker they can go bad just a little too fast - especially in a nolimit game.
