Phil Hellmuth's book, Keith, 25. Mar 2003 08:12

I would like to know if there is anyone out there who might have seen any transcripts to Phil's book coming out in May? Maybe Mike or Roy? I was wondering if this is a book I would like to include in my library or is it something I can forget about purchasing.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, Keith --

While I frequently see advance copies of books for review, Phil's new book wasn't sent to me. So, you know as much as I do.

I respect Phil's play and will be eager to see the book in print. I'll also be eager to hear what others report about it on UPF.

Straight Flushes,
Mike Caro

I happened to have an advance copy of Phil's book. It is ok not much info that I didn't already know. His basic theory is to play super tight aggressive consistently making it two to three bets with big hands in every game. He doesn't talk much about postion and doesn't mention that this type of play doesn't work in loose low limit games as I found from my own experiences after playing his style. He tells alot of storys about his own play expericences and kind of brags about them but hey that's Phil. He does cover all the popular games and strategies for each on though which is good. After all is said and done it wasn't that bad and you can do an advance order and it will cost you something like $12.00. Hope that helps

I don't know that comparisons between separate generation players is warranted here, but when a player as dominant as Hellmuth finally writes a book, I'm going to buy it sooner rather than later.
Being a historian, I look at it as 1978, and I have the chance to obtain a collector's edition of "Super System".
Learning from experience rather than theory. (Sklansky, et al)
FYI....I have my copy and I think it's damn worth it for the price. There are 2 current listings on Ebay, so you can't say you didn't have the chance.
