Hey, i have been playing tournamewnt hold em for about 6 months, and i am one of those people with a "library" of poker books. What i want to do is find out thebest book or books that will 1.)teach me regular hold em strategy and 2.) teach the best tourney strategy. I want to find one or two of the best books because i want to read and reread and reread them, adn memorize them, and i dont have time to do that with 30 books right now. Of course, i am considering sklansky's books, suipersystem, T.J. and Tom's books, and ciaffonie's/bryer's books, i just dont know which ones are the best. Sklansky's books are highly praised, but i dont see too much magic myself in teh hold em for Advanced players book, though i am very impressed with his tournament poker book. I also like roy's books, but more so beacuse they help me see what goes thru pros minds, and how comples this game is and howe much skill really is involved in the game. all thoughts are welcome-Dave

There is no magic in any poker book. Different words light up different light bulbs. But eventually, you have to provide your own generator.

The short answer is "all of the above" You're much better off sampling what a lot of different experts have to say than learning one book by rote. Don't forget to add Mike Caro's book of tells to that list - it is of marginal help if you've got a lot of experience, but it still has a few good nuggets in there that are worth it. I found, reading it, that I said, "well duh!" to about 90% of what was in there and, "Hey...that's not a bad take on that," to the remaining 10% - very good food for thought.
