I will not mention any names, but there is a site which advertises in Card Player a "too good to be true" poker promotion for holdem games 3/6 & up.

What the promotion boils down to is that they are paying you $20 an hour to play, even at $3/6. This is more than the rake makes, if everyone in the game is in on the promotion (which they should be).

In addition, there is a deposit bonus EVERY SINGLE FRIDAY of 50-75%. They do not advertise this, but once you register it comes by email every week.

What this means is that if you can break even on your play you will make $20 an hour on your play and make an additional 50% to 75% on every deposit you make.

It's ridiculous. The reason they offer this is because nobody gets out of there with any money. I believe the games are full of house shills who can see your cards. You will notice that there is absolutely no chat in these games, ever.

Too good to be true offers are just that. I do not want to mention the name because they advertise in Card Player. But somebody over at Card Player should get the message and ban their ads. I will tell you which sites it isn't: Party, Planet, Ultimate, Stars, Paradise, Pokerroom, True, or Total.

You'll see their ad in there with the promotion if you look.

If you don't believe me, sign up & play there. You won't come away with any of that bonus money, and very little (if you are lucky) of what you deposit.

I'll go out on a limb (I'm not as bashful as you): It's Pro Poker, right?

Let me tell you: I went through the EXACT same process with them regarding a different promotion. My experiences were exactly the same regarding the games, as well.

I was advised that there were no bots, which seemed impossible, given the hands getting shown down. I was told that there were "many foreign players in the game," and that was why nobody chatted.

I will not go into the particulars, but I came away with the DEFINITE impression that absolutely everything you said in your email is true.

I am in total agreement with you on the Card Player issue. They should absolutely look into it and do something about it. While it is true that nobody employs Card Player to be a watchdog for this type of thing, I would hope that we could expect better of the advertisers found in the publication (unquestionably the most prominent, well-respected authority on poker in the world, read by every serious card player from Des Moines to Damascus).
