| If a person were to be backed fully in a tournament what would a fair share of the payoff(if any)? | ||

| 3:2 is reasonable. With the backer getting 60% and the player getting 40%. This assumes the player is expert, with the backer assuming all the risk. | ||

| There is not a player in the world that could win in the long run for his backer in a split arrangement such as this! Roy Cooke on 9. Mar 2003 20:19 Andrew Wells wrote: > 3:2 is reasonable. | I was thinking for a single tourney as Fairfax's question implied, not a long term arrangement. I do agree that Paul's answer is much more appropriate. | ||

| There are several formula for financial backing. In their books, Cloutier and McEvoy talk about a method whereby the Backer is repaid any accoumulated debt of entry fees (and made other expenses) out of a win and then the balance of the win is split 50/50. So, if you (Player) were backed (by Backer) in five (5) $1000 entry tournaments before cashing for, say, $10,000. The accumulated $5,000 in entry fees would be repaid to Backer and then Player and Backer would split the remaining $5,000. I am not sure how the tax burden for such an arrangement would be handled. | This is a MUCH fairer split arrangement! Roy Cooke on 10. Mar 2003 08:11 Paul Stine wrote: > There are several formula for financial backing.
