Hi all,

I would like your thoughts on a mistake i made yesterday in an online no limit game (100$ max.).By the way you can sit down with 10$ on paradise.(was a question i remembered ).

First i played 4 no limit tourneys ( 10 players) 3 $10 tourneys and 1 $20. Finished 6th in $10 loosing pocket kings wich i still find very hard to fold even when i am almost sure i am up against AA.

I won the other 3 tourneys wich made me very happy about myself and i played very well.
My second mistake was sitting down at 2 no limit tables with $35. I know when i loose it is almost due to the fact that i play 2 tables and a limit which is too high for my bankroll.
But what the heck ......i am hot tonight right..
Within half an hour i was up $150 on one and $100 at the other table.
i was steaming and ruling.

Then came 6h6s middle position folded to me and i raise $4 late position makes it $6 everybody folds i make it $10 he calls.

Flop 5h 2s 4h...................I bet $15 putting the pressure on with which i think is the best hand....Shocking to see he goes all-in with $95.
Within 3 seconds i decide i have enough changes to improve on wich i still think is the best hand and i easily push the call button.

jc and kd follow . Scared now...it takes ages for him to show.....bullets.
I woke up out of my winning mood and i am shocked i just gave away $100+ that easy.

I quit and i am still up $300 which is a bundle for the limits i play.

Taking a shower this morning i am happy but still very puzzled about that $100 hand.
How big was my mistake? Did i have the odds were 6 outs enough to cold call...nah.

I would like to hear from you how big the mistakes were and does it sounds familiar.

Thank you very much.
Tommyhawk.

I'm not sure what you were trying to accomplish with that last little raise before the flop. If I'm holding a small pocket pair, trying to steal, and get played back at from someone in better position (even with a minimal reraise), I think it's time to slow down. Since you made the pot bigger and you chose to bet the flop against another large stack, you are representing a big hand. It's hard for your opponent to think you have a set. I might bet about half the pot on the flop, but I'm going to have to fold when I get played back at. Your opponent must have the ace of hearts, and I can only think of two legitimate hands that might push all-in here. Pocket aces, or an unlikely but possible Ah3h. You couldn't buy it on the flop, so you have zip.

Just my two cents but up until about 6 months ago i used to have the same experiences ALL the time. I have read all the books, can handle the math, am good with people and honestly think ( and my results used to show ) ,that whilst no pro, i was definitely better than the opposition i was up against.

But what i used to do was win steadily but then inexplicably blow a weeks winnings in half an hour ! It was only after i started keeping track of why my bank roll only grew slightly each month that it fully hit home, it is easier ( and more fun ) to gamble and lose than to win.

Er lost the point of this but i think it is to say always play your best game. It is no use knowing tells, odds ,theory if you dont apply it !
