| Hey, I might be interested as summer comes along, right now I have got school and my bankroll has suffered after a few bad beats, and well ....just bad playing I suppose. Anyway, if you still need a player or two this spring/summer shoot me an e-mail. ( bmthalman@rogers.com) I am quite interested to get some information about the game you are planning. Ben | ||

| I hear that one of the boys over at Casino Niagara is trying to get them to open up a cardroom. I'm thinking of the fishiness level at Brantford and of how much better something right on the border would be. Anybody have any inside information about this? | ||

| Nope. I'm talking about the casino cardroom. The 5-10 is almost always beatable by at least 2 BB/hour and the 10-20 is often beatable by me (and I'm not exactly God's gift) for 1 BB/hour. And there are lots of pros who are one the 20-40 every day, so they must be able to extract more than .5 BB/hour there or they would be playing the 10-20. | ||

| Hi Bryan, Without knowing the local business conditions of the gambling sector in Niagara Falls area, let me point out some general benefits of poker rooms in today’s casino market. 1) Poker acts as a distinguishing characteristic in an ever increasingly monotonous casino environment. 2) A poker room, once established, provides a reliable stream of revenue that will translate into sure profits with little capital risk. 3) Casinos with poker have a "comparative advantage" over other casinos. This relates to the first point but, further, it states that when offering a service, all else being equal, a customer will choose your casino because of that additional choice, which can only add to the property's appeal. 4) Not really a benefit but a rebuttal to the common diatribe against poker in the upper management of gaming operations is that poker does not generate the kind of profit per square foot as other games. This is usually true. However let me pose the question 'how much does an empty slot machine generate?' It just sucks up electricity, depletes the company’s capital, and takes up space. Having additional slots is only advantageous when demand outstrips supply. The marginal benefit from each additional slot diminishes just like nearly every other good, at some point adding a slot machine results in a negative return and this point has been reached by many casinos, especially those in competitive markets. These are just some of the positives of adding a poker room, there are certainly others. I hope that management makes a good decision, for in business and poker that’s how the money is made. Take It Easy, Cincinnati Kid | ||
