| Here's a couple of hands from yesterday's 10-20-30- unstructured limit Omaha High Only game at the Silver Star in Philadelphia. Comments and suggestions and ideas are welcome I'm still learning this game with lots of callers, large pots, high variance and lots of gambOOl in it. My image is rather tight and has been way too passive. I'm still playing tight but trying to lose the passive image. Here's the lineup: Seat 1 decent, experienced player Seat 2 probably best player at table Seat 3 loose, passive Seat 4 Your Hero Seat 5 loose, passive Seat 6 most aggressive player, most preflop raises, will reraise post flop to isolate Seat 7 tight, passive Seat 8 very tight, passive Seat 9 tightest, passive Seat 10 loose, passive Hand 1 I'm in big blind and dealt Ax-Jh-8h-6x Six players just call and with this hand I'm happy to see the flop for free. Seven players total. Flop Jx-2h-2x I kinda like the flop with 2 pair, Ace kicker. Previous play has shown a bet from me will cause tight players to fold. I bet $20. Aggressive player in Seat 6 and passive player in seat 10 call. All others fold. Turn 10h Board Jx-2h-2x-10h I pick up flush draw. I bet $20. Seat 6 and 10 call. I think one of the two probably has a deuce, but they are not full yet. Betting not calling may be the only way to win the pot. River 8h Board Jx-2h-2x-6h-8h I made my flush which I think has a chance of being the best hand. I bet the $30 max. Seat 6 folds, Seat 10 thinks, looks at his cards, almost folds and then calls. He can't beat the flush, then says to me almost angrily, "you sure bet like you had something." I know I got lucky, but that's Omaha, isn't it. I got a decent flop, picked up more draws on the turn. What's your thoughts? Hand 2 I'm on the button. Dealt Ah-2x-4h-5x Only one player folds in front of me for the $10. I've got far from a great hand, but, at least decent for late position, I call. Aggressive player raises to $30. I call and seven players see the flop for $30 each. (BTW, this is not unusual in this game) Flop comes Ax-4x-Jh Big blinds bets $20. Everyone up to me calls. I call with two pair, a gutshot straight draw and a runner nut flush draw. Turn make the board Ax-4x-Jh-8h I now have the nut flush draw, too. Aggressive player in big blind bets $20. Only passive players in Seats 10 and 3 call. I call, too. Miracle 3x hits the board. All check to me. I bet $30. Big blind and Seat 10 call. I say I got the 2-5. The looks on the other two players' faces was priceless. This hand is an excellent example of how being in late position can be very nice. I'm not sure I would have called the preflop raise in an earlier position. I may not have even seen the flop UTG. What are your thoughts on the hand as far as what you would have done preflop in early, middle and late position? Any other thoughts? | ||
